Stuff You Should Watch on Netflix

Sometimes trying to find great things to watch on Netflix is as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie. (If you know that movie quote, we are besties). Here are some of those lesser known diamonds in the rough that you should watch!

Arranged:
My friend MaryAnn recommended this movie when she was visiting, and I LOVED it. It's such a sweet movie, and it opened up a culture to me that I really had no idea about: the way that Orthodox Jews and Muslims arrange marriage, which are both very different. I personally prefer the Jewish way, which is through a matchmaker. But anyway, you really should watch it. It's not a documentary.
 Bernie:
How had I never heard of this movie??? I loved it. Jack Black was perfection. It's also a true story, which is crazy.
 Derek:
This is unlike anything Ricky Gervais has ever done. Well, it still is a mockumentary style, but Ricky Gervais's character is so different. He plays an autistic man who loves his job at a retirement home. This series is so funny, while being so thoughtful at the same time.
 Lars and the Real Girl:
Finally watched this movie! Ryan Gosling is awesome. This is probably my favorite movie with him, because he's not the hunky action guy he usually is.
 Outsourced:
Before it was a tv show, it was a movie, and a cute movie at that. It's about a guy whose company sends him to train employees in India since the company is outsourcing all their business there. Will he accidentally find love along the way?? ;)
And, my favorite documentaries on Netflix, ever since my other fav one got deleted (I HATE how netflix does that)---remember I wrote about it here??

Inside North Korea:
Mind blowing. Before I watched this a few years ago, I never realized the situation over there.

China's Lost Girls:
All about the adoption of so many of China's children because of their laws concerning how many children you can have. It also talks about other interesting factors of those laws, like how for the first time in the history of ever, childhood obesity is on the rise there, since parents dote and spoil the one child they're allowed to have. So fascinating. Watch it!

Do you have any suggestions for me? Please share, because my husband works so much (poor guy), so I confess, I watch a lot of Netflix.

  4. thanks for the suggestions! I loved Arranged too, such a good movie.
I have also discovered a few Bollywood movies that are fun. They may not be the most insightful and some last like 3 hours but they are fun nonetheless :)
